A synopsis of the life and travels of Frederick Gardiner, 1832-l868.

Native of England converted to the Mormon Church. Immigration to America, landing at New Orleans, 1849, where he works at various jobs before leaving for Utah, 1851. Describes the Martin and Willey Handcart Co. which brought his parents to Utah in 1856. His travels take him back to England and back to Utah.

Frederick Gardiner was born on 12 November 1832 in Chalford Hill, Gloucestershire, England. He was baptized into the LDS Church in 1845 and emigrated to America in 1849. He migrated to Utah in 1851 and married Sarah Smith two years later. Gardiner moved his family back and forth from Utah to New Orleans, finally settling in Salt Lake City in 1869.
